James W. Baker, M.D ., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Baker is a board certified general surgeon and board certified colon and rectal surgeon. He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins  University and his MD from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his general surgery residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago, and his colon and rectal surgery fellowship training at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Dr. Baker has practiced colon and rectal surgery exclusively in the Knoxville area since 1989.

Dr. Baker is a sports enthusiast (especially tennis) and enjoys playing the piano. He lives with his wife and family in West Knoxville. They enjoy traveling, remodeling, gardening, landscaping and their pets. They are big time fans of college athletics. (Go Vols!) They also occasionally find time for the symphony, ballet, and other local productions.
